About Chemokines:
Chemokines은 과거 SIS family, SIG family, SCY family, Platelet factor-4 superfamily 또는 Intercrines로 불리던 염증 유도성(pro-inflammatory), 활성화-유도성 사이토카인 계열에 속합니다. 이 단백질들은 주로 다양한 세포 유형에 대해 화학주성(chemotaxis)을 유도합니다.
Chemokines의 분자량은 8–10 kDa 범위이며, 단백질 수준에서 서로 20–50% 서열 상동성을 보입니다. 공통된 유전자 및 3차 구조(tertiary structure)를 공유하며, 분자 내 이황화 결합(intramolecular disulfide bond) 형성에 관여하는 보존된 시스테인 잔기를 다수 포함합니다.
Chemokines은 염색체 위치에 따라 두 개의 주요 하위 패밀리로 구분됩니다. Alpha-Chemokines은 인간 염색체 4q12-21에 위치해 4q chemokine family라고도 불리며, 첫 두 개의 시스테인 사이에 1개의 아미노산이 있어 Cysteine-X-Cysteine이라 합니다. 이 그룹의 새로운 체계적 명명법은 SCY 패밀리입니다. 일부 인간 CXC-케모카인은 N-말단 첫 시스테인 뒤에 ELR 모티프(Glu-Leu-Arg)를 가지며, ELR+ 케모카인은 주로 neutrophils를 유인·활성화하고, ELR– 케모카인은 단핵구, 수지상세포, T세포, NK세포, B림프구, 호염기구, 호산구를 유인·활성화합니다.
